		<description>I found this out the hard way.   After a trip to the cottage and not having &#039;service&#039; all the way back, I wasn&#039;t able to call my wife to let her know when I&#039;d be back.
So after getting balled out by her and finding the answer here, it seems to help.
Seems like a pain to have to do this everyday though.</description>

I didn&#039;t really know why putting the phone into and out of Airplane mode worked, it just made sense that it would have to reacquire the tower information.
