Over the Christmas holidays my wife and I were preparing to send out our christmas cards and wanted to use my address book that was on my MacBook. I searched and searched for a way to make 2 different address books and in the end was not able to find a solution I wanted to use. So I tried it 2 different ways. T
1st Solution –
My wife wanted all the envelopes addressed to Mr. & Mrs. John & Jane Doe. Why, I am not sure, but as I have learned it does me no good to argue with and English teacher over proper letter formatting. So I Began to add Mr. & Mrs. prefixes to each of the addresses we were going to send christmas greetings to.(To get the Prefix Field in the address card just go tot the Address Book Preferences and Slect the Template item. Then, drop down the Add Field and select Prefix.)
(To get the Prefix Field in the address card just go tot the Address Book Preferences and Slect the Template item. Then, drop down the Add Field and select Prefix.)
After I got about 1/2 way through the list i wanted to listen to a new set of podcasts so i sync’ed my iphone up and got a few new episodes. Well when i did that ALL of my contacts now read Mr. & Mrs. and that was just about all i could see maybe the first name but no mush more. I said to my wife this will not do I can see the names on my phone. Well here is what i did i Went back and Deleted all to Prefixes I had created and put the mailing address titles in the nickname field and there I had it a working address book on my iPhone and the addresses ready to print in pages. (I used pages to set up the envelope so i did not have to waste stickers).
2nd Solution –
The other solution I came across on some message board somewhere (sorry forgot where) told me to make a new user and adjust the address book for just doing mailings.
I will use solution 1 from no on because O won’t have to keep 2 books current and I wont have to create another user on my Mac.
