Thank you for your information - it's been extremely helpful to me. I was wondering if perhaps you know also how to change the default in birthdays to not only on the day (which I have changed the time on!) but the extra reminder you can set to days before defaults to 15 days - how can i change that to 7 days?

I have never seen this isse, not because it doesn't happen to me, but because I use Fantastical to create appointments in iCal. (http://flexibits.com/fantastical)

It's a really great way to add appointments. It supports defaults for all day events and duration events. By defaults, I mean reminder info.

It's not all that expensive and a big time saver.
