Quick Tip: Speed up entering a url in Mobile Safari.

In Mobile Safari for the iOS devices, such as your iPhone or iPad, you can enter a new url without tapping the x that clears the url field.

For Example:

If you already have say apple.com open on you iphone and you want to go to newmacuser.com. All you have to do is tap the url bar and start typing. Mobile Safari is smart enough to know that you want a new url and clears the old one for you.

Use the Find command in Safari with out typing the CMD+F First

I am a firm believer in using Safari on my mac. When I had my windows computer I used Firefox and there is one thing I really miss.   The feature is hard to describe in text but here is my best attempt. In Firefox when you are on a webpage and you are looking for a word or sentence  you just start typing and the “”Find” bar comes up and you can see the results as you type in more info. …

Force Mail in 10.6 to only copy e-mail addresses

In Mail OS X 10.6 one of the changes is how an email address is copied to the clip board. By default in 10.6 when you copy and paste an e-mail address you get the output in “Name ” . Before the release of 10.6 you could just copy an email address in Mail and when you pasted it you would just get “name@example.com.”

If use use Mail.app like I do and use the copy feature to move e-mail addresses around, …

Quickly Print Files Without Opening Them

Okay so thats a bit of a lie. With these 2 methods the program will open, print the item, and then close the file.

The first way is to select Print in the Finder s File menu.  This only works if you have the file selected in the Finder window. For example I have a Numbers document named Bills in my documents folder. If I wanted to print that, with this meted, I would open a Finder window navigate to the file and select …

Create easy screen-sharing shortcuts

Over at Macworld.com, Rob Griffiths, has put together a nice tutorial on how to set up some shortcuts to get to your shared screens on other Macs on the network.

From the article
“You can create a shortcut to any screen sharing with any machine on your network by using your Web browser, and a special URL. The URL takes the form of vnc://address.of.machine, and address.of.machine can be either a raw IP address (i.e. 192.168.1.203) or that Mac’s Bonjour name, which is typically …

Quick Look files in Open and Save dialogs

After reading this post from Mac OSX Hints, I have compiled a quick how to use Quicklook to view files in the “Open” an “Save” dialog windows.

You will first need to get the Quick Viewer and Quick Look Droplet from Apple.com. Once you download these files drag the Quicklook Droplet to the Dock. Then next time you need to see a file in an “Open” or “Save” dialog just drag the file icon over the Quicklook Droplet on the dock.
