News now out in dev beta – Funny Dig at Android

I was being shown the new  News Application today by a Developer when we noticed something very interesting. While selecting your initial news categories you are presented with a photo icon and name for each section. For example the Time Magazine tile was a shot of a recent cover.

While we were scrolling we came across the Tile for Android (Operating System) and noticed Tim Cook with a deep laugh as the image.

The image again appeared when I added the Android (Operating System) to my favorites section as you can see in the second photo.

As of 4:15pm eastern it [...]

FCC sets new Net Neutrality Rules

This news is not specific to the Apple community but it is very important to anyone who uses the internet.  Today the FCC passed some very good net neutrality rules today. The new regulations include blocking ISP's form creating "Fast Lanes" for pay, give the FCC authority to intervene when big cable companies don't act in the public interest,  stop IPS's from blocking websites, and more.

The plan looks a lot like the "Open Internet Rules" president Obama asked for in his November 10, 2014 announcement.

The battle for true net neutrality is far from over as gizmodo outlines in [...]

Apple Store – Haywood Mall Opens it’s Doors

The Apple store in Haywood mall opened it's doors at 10:00 am today. The store is one of the biggest I have been in. Much larger than the 2 closest stores Charlotte, NC and Mall of Georgia, GA. When the store opened at 10 there were more than 500 in line to see the 1st Apple store in the upstate of SC. I shot all kinds of video on my iPhone 4 today and I am going to use my phone to do the editing with iMovie mobile and then post on the site. I will use that video to review iMovie for you. That should be up by the end of the day. Also, if you need an appointment with an apple genius you can [...]

Apple Store Comes to Greenville Saturday July 10th

The long awaited Haywood Mall Apple store will be opening its doors for the first time this Saturday at 10:00am. Apple has not had much of a presence in the Upstate until now. Please join me in welcoming Apple to the Upstate. I am going to try and be in line to be one of the first in the store along with some of my friends from the local Greer Mac User Group.

Every Apple Retail Store offers a range of free services designed to help customers get the most out of their Apple products, including face-to-face support and advice at the Genius Bar, hands-on workshops and special programs for [...]

MacBook May Get FireWire Back

To say there has been a lot of buzz around Apples decision to leave off the FireWire port on its new line of MacBooks is an understatement. But there is hope for the beloved FireWire standard. According to a recent article from Zdnet's "The Apple Core", there is a new standard in the works that would allow for FireWire over Ethernet. The IEEE 1394c is an extension to the FireWire standard (IEEE 1394/a/b) that would provide the ability for FireWire to run at 800Mbps over category 5 unshielded twisted pair cables. It’s still in development and just passed the first ballot.  Accruing [...]
